José Amauris Avelenda Hierrenzuelo fue detenido en Santa María cuando se dirigía a Santiago de Cuba para participar en la vista oral del juicio que se iba a celebrar en el Tribunal Provincial al activista Bizmar Mústelier Galán. José Amauris Avelenda Hierrenzuelo fue trasladado a la PNR de Mella, donde permaneció 16 horas bajo arresto.
