El denunciante fue detenido cuando se dirigía en ómnibus a la misa de la catedral. El autobús, el cual se dirigía a Santiago de Cuba, fue detenido por agentes policiales, quienes bajaron al denunciante y comenzaron a golpearlo, llevándoselo posteriormente detenido a la PNR de Julio Antonio Mella.
