El día 20 de diciembre de 2013, Marioldis Delgado Romero fue detenido por el oficial del Departamento de la Seguridad del Estado Maikel Meriño cuando estaba reunido en la vivienda del activista Geordanis Muñoz Guerrero. Ya en la estación de policía, el oficial Maikel Meriño requisó el teléfono móvil de Delgado Romero y lo destruyó.
